Act concerning the entailed estate of Rosendal and changes of the inheritance rules for the entailed estate of Wedel Jarlsberg

Cf. former Act of 1 August 1821, Act of 18 August 1911 No. 8 § 26 first subsection K and § 40 second subsection. Modified by Act of 28 May 1999 No. 33.

§ 1. Possessions of the entailed estate of Rosendal will from the time the King decides become the owner in question's free property.

§ 2. Regarding the succession to the entailed estate of Wedel Jarlsberg an exception is made to provide that the entailed estate can only be inherited by male and female members of the current Norwegian branch of the House of Wedel Jarlsberg, so that the eldest in the line shall take precedence over the younger, and the nearest line over the more remote. If there is no such heir, the entailed estate will be transferred to the University of Oslo as free property on specific terms decided by the King.

§ 3. The provisions in the Act containing specific provisions regarding tenant farming estates belonging to entailed estates, foundations etc. of 23 June 1888 §§ 4, 5 and 11 will be applicable to estates, which have become free property founded on this Act.

§ 4. This Act comes into effect immediately.

(Replaced by a new § 2 in the Act concerning changes to the Act concerning the entailed estate of Rosendal and changes of the inheritance rules for the entailed estate of Wedel Jarlsberg, sanctioned by the King in council Friday 28 May 1999.)

§ 2. Regarding the succession to the entailed estate of Wedel Jarlsberg an exception is made to provide that the entailed estate can only be inherited by male members of the current Norwegian branch of the House of Wedel Jarlsberg in the agnatic line. If there is no such heir, the entailed estate will be transferred to the Norwegian University as free property on specific terms decided by the King.

§ 2. I arvefølgen i stamhuset Jarlsberg gjøres den innskrenkning at stamhuset kun skal arves av mannlige agnatiske medlemmer av den nuværende norske linje av slekten Wedel Jarlsberg. Er ingen sådan arving til, tilfaller stamhuset det norske Universitetet som fri eiendom på nærmere vilkår som Kongen bestemmer.


Explanations

The reference "the Norwegian University" in the former § 2 (1927-1999) should be read as "the University of Oslo".
